The Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join an established technology and engineering business developing innovative products and solutions.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for software development from initial specification and design through to implementation, testing and verification, while also supporting and enhancing existing software products.
This is a technically focused role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and working across the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain software for new products and solutions.
- Take ownership of software development projects from specification through to verified software.
- Support and enhance existing software in line with commercial and technical requirements.
- Apply strong software engineering practices to produce robust, reliable and maintainable solutions.
- Provide technical input and expertise across software development projects.
- Work closely with customers, suppliers and external partners on software-related matters where required.
- Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers.
- Act as a technical role model and contribute to the development of junior team members.
- Support wider project activities and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
About You
We are looking for a technically strong Software Engineer with experience working across the full software development lifecycle.
You will ideally have:
- Strong C++ development experience.
- Experience taking software projects through the full development lifecycle.
- Good understanding of Microsoft Visual Studio 2022/2026.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering or another relevant discipline.
- Experience working within a structured engineering or product development environment.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- GUI / UX / HCI development experience.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
- Experience working on complex engineering or technically demanding products.
- Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring to junior engineers.
