      Senior RF Engineer

      London

      Full time, Permanent

      £60,000 - £65,000

      The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior RF Engineer to join a highly technical engineering environment, working across the development, testing and support of RF and microwave modules, antennas and associated systems.

The successful candidate will take ownership of significant RF engineering work packages, from requirements and design through to verification, manufacture and ongoing product support.

This is a technically varied role, providing the opportunity to work across RF design, antenna development, testing and production, while supporting wider engineering and customer requirements.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Lead the development of RF, microwave and antenna systems, both internally and through external partners.
      • Develop, maintain and improve existing RF and antenna designs.
      • Define, derive and manage technical requirements, including verification and validation.
      • Provide technical support to engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers and customers.
      • Support RF and antenna production testing and external design activities.
      • Support RF module manufacture, investigating technical issues and carrying out trend and root-cause analysis.
      • Ensure robust engineering processes and quality standards are maintained throughout design and manufacture.
      • Plan and manage smaller RF engineering work packages, including estimating and resource planning.
      • Maintain accurate technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

      About You

We are looking for an experienced RF Engineer with strong practical knowledge of RF/microwave design and antenna engineering.

      You will ideally have:

      • Experience with PCB design at microwave frequencies, including schematic development and PCB layout review.
      • Strong knowledge of RF component selection, including high-power RF amplifiers, LNAs, limiters, circulators, filters, mixers and PLLs.
      • Experience with RF system design and cascade analysis.
      • Practical experience using RF test equipment such as spectrum analysers and vector network analysers.
      • Strong understanding of antenna theory, design and testing, including array, slotted array and printed antennas.
      • Experience with Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM).
      • Experience working within a production environment, with an understanding of processes such as SMT.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      • A self-motivated approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.

      Desirable Experience

      The following would be advantageous:

      • Experience with Altium PCB Design Software.
      • Experience using Altair RF and antenna design software.
      • Knowledge of radar or closely related applications, such as communications.
      • Knowledge of digital electronics or power supply design.
      • Experience with requirements management and/or systems engineering.
      • Experience with test automation using MATLAB or Python.
      • Knowledge of EMC.
      • Understanding of regulatory requirements such as FCC, ITU or ETSI standards.

      The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RF Engineer to work on complex, technically challenging RF and antenna projects, with responsibility across design, development, testing and manufacturing.

The role would suit someone who enjoys working at the technical forefront of RF and microwave engineering and wants to contribute to the development of sophisticated engineering products and systems.
