An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and bespoke electronics design and manufacturing specialist based in Basingstoke, Hampshire.
The company develops and manufactures electronic systems tailored to meet the precise requirements of its customers, operating across a diverse range of sectors with a particular focus on the automotive industry.
With a strong focus on quality, innovation and continuous improvement, the business is looking for an experienced Production Manager to take responsibility for the efficient manufacture and timely delivery of its products.
The Role
As Production Manager, you will have overall responsibility for ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, to the required quality standards and delivered to customers on time.
This is a hands-on production leadership role where you will manage the day-to-day manufacturing operation, lead and develop the production team, and work closely with Engineering, Quality and Operations to continually improve processes and maximise manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule manufacturing activities to meet changing customer requirements and agreed delivery schedules.
- Manage production operators and manufacturing processes to ensure high levels of quality, productivity and efficiency.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to determine optimum batch sizes and production schedules.
- Maximise manufacturing throughput while maintaining appropriate stock levels and meeting customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Liaise closely with Engineering to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and the transition of new products into production.
- Work alongside the Quality Manager to maintain the company’s IATF 16949 (TS16949) and ISO 14001 standards.
- Ensure production processes are followed consistently and effectively.
- Identify and resolve production issues, bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Lead, motivate and develop the production team, creating a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Ensure production activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate production records and utilise MRP and Microsoft Office systems to support effective planning and reporting.
About You
The successful candidate will have previous experience within an electronics manufacturing environment, ideally with strong hands-on knowledge of SMT and PCB assembly processes.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience managing production within an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience operating or managing surface mount pick-and-place production lines.
- Excellent practical knowledge of SMT, surface mount and conventional/THT assembly processes.
- A hands-on approach and the ability to understand and troubleshoot manufacturing processes at shop-floor level.
- Strong production planning and scheduling skills.
- A good commercial awareness and understanding of the relationship between production efficiency, cost, quality and customer delivery.
- Experience working with MRP systems and excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and transferring products into production.
- Ideally, previous experience within the automotive sector.
- Ideally, knowledge or experience of IATF 16949 / TS16949 and ISO 14001 environments.

Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
